Geothermal heat pumps create greener, cleaner home with air filter

The air is filled with countless particles, constantly – and unknowingly – being in hailed and exhaled by all of us.

Many homeowners believe their homes are sanctuaries from all that hovers invisibly, blocked by filters in their air conditioning systems. But the reality is that most filters pose little match to what lingers in the air, be it pollen, mold, dust mites or hairspray. In fact, standard filters only trap 2 percent of particles in the air.

ClimateMaster, a leader in the geothermal industry, has worked over the years to develop the EarthPure air cleaner to combat potential interior contributors to allergies and illnesses.

The EarthPure air cleaner is an option on ClimateMaster geothermal heat pumps. The air cleaners remove up to 97 percent of dangerous particles, down to 0.3 microns in size. About the smallest particles standard filters block are 3 microns.

Those particles measuring less than a micron include tobacco smoke, small bacteria, paint pigments, odors and gases from carpets, furniture and cleaning products.

EarthPure filters fit the same compartments as standard filters and get their power from a low electrostatic current that has been applied to the center carbon screen that is inside the filter’s disposable cleaner pad. What happens when particles and pollutants enter the filter is that they become polarized with those particles drawn to the fibers.

The result is cleaner air cycling through the home.
