Enertech Introduces New Vertical Two-Stage Geothermal System
(GREENVILLE, IL) – Enertech Global, LLC has launched its next generation of geothermal packaged systems with the introduction of the YT Multi-Positional Vertical Packaged unit. The YT model combines Enertech’s best product development ideas with all-new innovative features. Dramatic improvements in sound quality and efficiency were achieved, along with a reduction in cabinet size. YT Vertical Packaged models use a variety of state-of-the-art features that work together to create Enertech’s most advanced geothermal system yet.
“We worked very closely with our Dealer and Distributor Product Councils during the development of this product,” said Tim Wright, Enertech Sales Manager. “Having input from those selling our products, and the technicians and installers who work with our geothermal equipment everyday was instrumental in creating a new model that exceeds expectations.”
The new YT models use an all-aluminum microchannel air coil, a unique design that provides improved heat transfer, higher efficiencies and less weight compared to traditional copper/aluminum tube-and-fin coils. Enertech introduced this technology into its vertical packaged systems in 2011. Since then, it has proven itself to eliminate air coil failures caused by formicary corrosion.
Enertech designers were able to achieve substantial improvement in overall sound quality by focusing on reducing compressor noise and vibration. Elastomeric compressor isolation pads separate the Copeland UltraTech 2-stage Scroll compressor from the unit. These pads isolate and dissipate vibration at the source. In addition, internal copper tubing employs an enhanced “shock loop” design, which also prevents compressor vibration from transmitting through other internal components, as well as improves the durability of the internal refrigeration circuit. High density, closed cell foam insulation is used throughout the unit to absorb sound. This foam is UL GREENGUARD Certified for improved air quality and low chemical emissions.
Ease of service and installation are hallmarks of Enertech’s geothermal systems. YT vertical packaged models are multi-positional, meaning a single unit can be configured for left or right-hand return in the upflow position with minimal effort and tools (Rear and side discharge field conversion kit available in the future). Improved digital controls can be mounted on the top or side of the unit in either return position. The control box has a status window that allows for visibility of the unit status lights without opening the cover. Engineers were also able to reduce the overall cabinet size.
Other standard features include:
- Variable speed ECM blower motor matched to ductwork to deliver optimum airflow, plus has multiple CFM settings to fit any installation.
- Factory installed desuperheater (hot water generator) allows the capture of free, unused heat, which is used to heat domestic water. This application can cut hot water costs by up to 50%. An external hot water disable switch simplifies unit maintenance.
- Foam insulated, enhanced surface coaxial heat exchanger protects against moisture and improves unit performance and reliability.
- Front or rear condensate drain connection points allow for field conversion.
- Stainless steel drain pan prevents corrosion. A condensate overflow sensor guards against clogged drains.
Production will take place at Enertech’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Mitchell, SD. This initial release is for 3 and 4-ton models in GeoComfort, Hydron Module and TETCO brands. Those models are available to order beginning December 1, with delivery beginning December 15, 2014. The two-week lead time will eventually be reduced once production ramps up. Additional sizes will be available in early 2015, as will Commercial Series models in 208/230 volt, 3-phase, 60 Hertz and 460 volt, 3-phase, 60 Hertz.
The YT Vertical Packaged unit and other Enertech Global geothermal products will be on display at two upcoming trade events. Visit booth #S1019 at the 2015 International Builder’s Show (IBS) in Las Vegas or booth #7089 at 2015 AHR Expo in Chicago. Both shows take place in late January.
