Net zero pod home uses spray foam insulation for the thermal envelope

The NextGen NetZero/Healthy Home at the 2016 International Builder's Show in Las Vegas showcased a unique approach to tiny house living.

Covestro sponsored this tiny, ultra energy efficient home and supplied the Bayseal CCX closed-cell SPF insulation and Bayblock 100 percent acrylic roof coating that helped the home achieve net zero energy performance.

Jim Gregory, the architect of the home with Shelter Dynamics, discussed his design approach to the home, including using his background as a boat builder to craft this home that lives large in a small space.

Dan Varvais with Covestro reviewed the importance of the thermal envelope in a high performance home like this one.

In addition to producing as much energy as it uses, this tiny house can function off the grid, can tell the homeowner if the doors and windows are unlocked, and contains wall board that actually improves the air quality.
