A Waterwise Guide To Evaporative Coolers

Publication Type:

Published / Updated:

Evaporative coolers provide an energy efficient way to cool air temperature in low humidity climates. Warm air is cooled as it passes through porous pads that are kept moist by water dripping on their upper edges. The warm outside air is passed through a blower wheel into the pads and cool air is then passed into the home. Studies show that evaporative coolers use only about 1/3 of the energy of a refrigerated air cooler. Download this fact sheet for more information on the energy efficient benefits of evaporative coolers.
